There are many today that mitigate the need for preaching in favor of dialogue, stories, and other forms of communication. The culture the bible was written in was an oral culture, yet the Bible was written down and preached regularly. Ai believes in the importance of preaching that flushes out the meaning of the text as it was written and then views that text in light of the gospel in our current time. The bible mandates that any person teaching God's word has no need of shame "handling accurately the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15), and that we are called to "preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching" (2 Timothy 4:2). Therefore Ai teaches how to accurately handle and preach the word of God effectively since we believe it is the first line of discipleship. As a matter of fact, the New Testament puts a premium on those that are gifted to preach the gospel (1 Timothy 5:17-18).
